Plot SummaryEdit

Dr. Gilmore narrates to the audience his life and involvement with Black Ghost, including the origins of the 00 Cyborgs he helped to develop.

The episode starts in 1961, showing the historic spaceflight of Yuri Gagarin into Earth's orbit and return home to Russia where his achievement is celebrated by the citizens of the Soviet Union with a parade. At a nearby hospital, an operating room is trying to work on a patient but the surgeons are annoyed by the noise outside and the nurse orders the scrubs to shut the door. The Russian military are observing an experimental artificial heart developed by a young surgeon named Issac Gilmore as he gives the order to the other surgeons to stop the patient's real heart to implant the artificial one. The scene fades out to later on and it is revealed that the patient had died in the operating room as the heart did not work properly/ Dr. Gilmore pounds his fist against a window in frustration when a voice calls to him.

  • In the English dubbed version and dubs based from its scripts, Gamo Whisky was renamed "Gamo Asimov", starting with the references to him in this episode.
  • Yuri Gagarin said once in orbit during his historic flight: "The Earth is blue. How wonderful. It is amazing!", the first words ever spoken by a human being in space. This quote is referenced during the brief footage of his parade by a TV announcer.
