Ryousuke Takahashi

Ryōsuke Takahashi (January 11, 1943-) is a Japanese anime director, producer and screenwriter for Sunrise Inc. He is one of the company's most influential figures, pioneering and evolving the "Real Robot" genre of anime from its base template of Mobile Suit Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Some of his work includes Rurouni Kenshin, the 1980s version of Astro Boy, The King of Braves GaoGaiGar and the 1979 incarnation of Cyborg 009.

A graduate of Meiji University, Ryōsuke began his anime career by applying and then working for Osamu Tezuka's Mushi Productions studio in 1964. Ryōsuke left the company in 1972 and joined a then brand new studio, Nippon Sunrise Animation in 1973[1].
