Hera is a major antagonist of the "Mythos Arc" in the 2001 anime Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier.

Appearance Edit

Personality Edit

Like the other Mythos cyborgs, Hera is dedicated to the supposed "mission" of making the world a better place by committing global genocide. She is the only one who knows how she and her fellow cyborgs came to be, but she keeps it to herself, and honestly does not care.

She distrusts Artemis' change of heart and views it as a weakness.

Biography Edit

Hera, along with her fellow Greek Gods, was created by Dr. Gaia, a former Black Ghost scientist. Gaia, who was a rival to Dr. Gilmore, created his "superior" cyborgs by removing their human empathy, a decision that Gilmore opposed. This made the Mythos cyborgs more powerful than the 00 cyborgs in the sense they had no moral restraint. Hera was granted the role of being the "queen" of the Mythos cyborgs, with Apollo as the leader.

Abilities Edit

Similarly to Ivan Whisky of the 00 cyborgs, Hera has psychic powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, and ESP.

Notes Edit

  • Hera's character was based on the Woman Esper of the manga, who Ishinomori had not assigned any exact mythological identity to.
  • Hera is named after the Greek goddess "Hera", the wife and sister of Zeus, the leader of the gods. Hera was the goddess of marriage and young women, and childbirth. She was infamous for her vengeful jealousy against Zeus' lovers and illegitimate children.
