  • How did you obtain the photo for Ghost Alliance?

      Loading editor
    • Simple, I snapped a photo of the next episode preview.

Others I had to obtain by trying to search using Japanese versions of the episode titles. I then snag screenshot taken by fans or make my own. That is why some episodes that haven't been translated yet now have images in their infobox.

  • Thanks for dealing with those uncategorized pages! As you can see, I uploaded a new wiki logo using the image you provided.

For the characters section that you mentioned, I agree that having a consistent picture size for each character would look better, so let's start there. Please link me to the original version of each image that is used on the gallery, and I'll crop and resize them to try to have a consistent appearance.

    • Apologies for the late response, I was at work the past two days. http://cyborg009.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Main_Page/Portal Here is the main portal. All image file names are listed in the coding.

    • Hello?

        Loading editor
    • I uploaded new versions of the character images and inserted them on Template:Main Page/Portal.

I noticed that you're displaying the image gallery by forcing a specific number of images per row, which doesn't look ideal on certain screen sizes. As an alternative for you to consider, I created a gallery at User:JoePlay/test (with the code listed below for easy copy & paste). It's using the default <gallery> tag with some customization parameters, all of which you can read on this help page. The main advantage there is that the number of images displayed per row is based on the screen size, so there is never any wasted space. Another advantage is that you don't have to use a template just to display the images with a border and the character's name on the bottom right corner of the image.

Another suggestion for the main page would be to remove the dark blue line around the sections and label each section using Template:Heading that I just created using a Google Font I found that resembles the official logo. To use it, simply type {{Heading|Title}} and replace Title with the title of the section. You can see an example at the bottom of User:JoePlay/test.

The appearance of the text is controlled with the CSS that I added to MediaWiki:Common.css under /* Template:Heading */. Feel free to adjust the styling as needed.

Let me know if you'd like me to help with any other design issues.

  • Hi Aldo, do you know what powers 005 gets after he is "upgraded" by Ivan in the 2012 manga? All I remember that in the OVA he can cause mini-quakes.

  • Hi Aldo, can you tell me a summary of RE: Cyborg 009? I watched it some time ago, but all I remember was religious stuff, Joe being in space, stuff blowing up, and... naked Jet.

      Loading editor
    • I remember that: The 00 Cyborgs had been disbanded for a few decades, some Terrorists attacks happen, 009 had his brain wired to believe he was in high school on a continuous loop with 003 installing a virtual avatar version of herself to keep him company. Frannie and Joe having sex to relieve pent up romantic feelings they had built up from being away from each other, something about God being in peoples brains telling them to do bad things and America plotting to overthrow peace with zombie cyborgs simply to retain its political dominance. Then a cool scene of 009 outrunning a nuclear explosion, yammering about religion even more and seeing that 003 had developed a technopathic ability enhancement. Angel skeletons, mostly in reference to the Angel Arc. The ending...I just gave up as it made absolutely no sense.

    • Basically the movie was so confusing to viewers the DVD came with a story guide book, not even joking.

        Loading editor
    • ooh maybe if I read that I'll understand the movie better

And um I think I remember more: one by one the 00-Cyborgs disappear during the movie, Jet hates Joe for some reason and they fight in midair at one point, Joe had to hijack something in space to stop it, Jet saves Joe while in space and dies, Joe pleads with God and then somehow the world is reset (?) with the 00-Cyborgs brought back from.... something.

      Man this is confusing

  • Sorry to bring this to you attention but NBAJammer is being unreasonable and blocking me for in his words "Since you aren't on our wikis to contribute anything meaningful and instead feel it is acceptable behavior here to intimidate and harass people who do not agree with you, I'm not going to tolerate it anymore. You are done. Permanently" that I find to be hypocritical because he is using his admin rights to not only intimitate me and block me he doesn't like the fact that I did not agree with him and did this to me.

  • I never would have thought the OVA would have been officially released worldwide, so soon! Netflix is a blessing. Ah...if only IshimoriPro could let Netflix get the 2001 series now, but this is a good start. What do you think of the dub?

    • Johnny Yong Bosch was near perfect as 009 as was Bryce Papenbrook as Akira/Devilman (His Devilman had the vibe of Fred Tatasciore as the Hulk). Also, some of the others were good but some were better than others. (007's voice was one of the weaker ones)

There was a bit of clunkiness in the dialogue but then again that is due to the pacing of the OVA. One bit that annoyed me is they again chose to make all the Zero Zeroes have American-sounding voices. The worst entry in the franchise still is the only one to get that aspect right. *UGH*

The OVA has low ratings on Netflix but I attribute that with viewers being unfamiliar with the two franchises and some of the more controversial stuff like certain appendages of the demons. (Conservative America cannot handle full Go Nagai).

  • Hey Aldo, I saw the new pictures for the 2001 anime episodes 6 and 7. How did you do it? I heard something about using the Print Screen on your keyboard a while back, and I wanted to add images to the wiki, too.

  • Hello, Aldo!

Remember some months back, when I'd had a hunch about who might have voiced 008 in the Cyborg Soldier dub, but we'd been unable to find any way to contact Michael Sorich for any leads or further information on the history of it?

Well, another user on the Fandom Post said I was "dead on" about Mr. Sewell, and had asked him themselves on his YouTube channel. The mystery's solved. I'm just happy it's cleared up now, and that we can truly put a name and credit to the elusive "Mario".

      Loading editor
    • Great job! At last we can get some more work done on his page!

        Loading editor
    • Huh, wait, scratch that. I just saw the full quote on Sewell's page, and though he identifies his voice in a clip (which is unavailable), he said he didn't go by "Mario". I wonder what the deal is now...

This seems to be a matter I run into roadblocks with, since some fans I'd run stuff by were sure it was him, and then another had the opinion that Sewell seemed to be separate. So then I get this curveball thrown, and then another twist?

(Although as I've learned, it's not all the time that the actors themselves pick an alias, and it might be the director's deal. I'd trust the man himself in his memory and in identifying his voice, so I'm curious to see what the matter is.)

        Loading editor
    • Update: It looks like Sewell was credited under an alias without his acknowledgment, from what the case seems to be now. Good to know.

And the other fan has helped verify some other things about the voice, so our "Mario" mystery is solved and closed I guess.

We can definitely scratch out "Mario L. Patrenella", and hopefully other websites can put that misidentification to rest as well :p. Now I guess we have to figure out the supporting and guest characters, but I'd say that's less priority than getting the main cast in order.

  • It looks like unless the OVA foreshadows something with Ryo, we might have to take him out of the "Villains" section, although the guy does look shady.  I'm awaiting to see what goes on with him, if much.

I'd have to try and find the different comments I saw on the advance screening, but one described this as "80% Cyborg 009, 20% Devilman" and some comment of "feeling sorry for the Devilman fan side". I'm guessing to make the story work and for it to fit in this AU-verse, not too much might be happening with Akira, Ryo, and Miki, since the OVA is supposed to fall sometime before that big pile-up of twists and end. Or of course, it's sort of its whole own universe, so who's to say any Devilman end would exactly happen the same (then again, considering how there's some time paradox/loop employed in the greater Devilman canon to make sure each loop ends terribly...)

That said, spoilers are otherwise really tight, and the Japanese Twitter fans I watch are just vaguely satisfied or okay with this OVA series (the 009 ones at least, not sure on Devilman fans). There is opinion that the tone of the OVA is much like the 2001 series, which I guess can be expected a little with Kawagoe c:. I can't wait to see if it's effective.

There's more footage of the other cyborgs, plus some cryptic characters dressed in black. Twitter has another sneak peek of the OVA from a talk show, and they showed some "Mythos" footage. I'll try and find that.

It wasn't too much other than snippets of the fight with Joe and Apollo, and it looked like they were taking cues from the end of the 2001 series in having a more clear-cut ending, with some clip of the 00 team watching Magma fall apart from the safety of the Dolphin. Considering the cruddy circumstances the manga arc had to be wrapped up in, it makes sense that any further adaptation will still try to give more of an end.

Hmm yeah, I guess he could be cropped or some sort of censor blur or something employed to cover up Mr. Trouser Snake. I wonder how other wikias handle those sorts of characters?

My experience is they block out the naughty bits, even on the "Adult" wikis like Bible Black (Which I had the misfortune of walking into when using the Random Wiki button and hitting the mouse by accident one day.) Usually pixelating the bad stuff or cropping to just show the character's face.

    • (*Examines High Teen Cyborg powers*)

      • 0014: Healing factor Seems like the weakest of the bunch, obviously the prototype of the series.
      • 0016: Plasma cannons, Super Strength, Micro Missile launchers An advanced armored hybrid of the 004 and 005 designs..and a healing factor to boot..YIKES.
      • 0017: able to use esper powers to freeze things. Hmm.. two possibilities: sounds like Cryokinesis... but it could also be nullifying kinetic energy to zero aka Inertia manipulation. 009 would be in trouble against an opponent who could stop him cold even if he accelerated. Canada? So he's a Weapon X project! XD
      • 0018: Creates shockwaves So in other words: a version of Vibe from DC Comics.

Highly destructive, all have healing factors and Acceleration..they thought this out pretty well they sound like a genuine threat.
