Revive! Phoenix is the twenty-fifth episode of the 1968 Cyborg 009 anime TV series.
009 tries to help a fellow rival racer regain his confidence after a wreck during a race. Later, 009 is chosen by an automobile company to road test a supersonic turbine car, only for a saboteur to attempt to ruin the company's reputation before the car can participate in a race in California.
- The Phoenix car has technology related to several real concept and production car ideas that were prevalent at the time:
- The name is a play on a series of jet turbine engine powered prototypes developed by General Motors called the Firebird. During the Jet age, many car manufacturers experimented with the turbine engine due to its power and versatility in the utilization of multiple combustible fuels aside from gasoline. Jet engines also had fewer moving parts than an internal combustion engine, so manufacturers thought it would be more convenient and economical for consumers to maintain. Sadly, there were still issues that prevented them from mass producing the concepts, such as a lack of desire from the public for fuel economic cars or lack of mechanics who knew how to work on a jet engine.
- Its overall look resembles the 1950s GM Motorama concept vehicles that went on tour around the world with large tailfins, Corvette-like headlights and a sleek aerodynamic low body.
